Are you interested in having a new platform available "in your backyard"... the LSU Genomics Core?
If so, please email the Genomics Core, outlining why you would like to see that platform physically available here. Some helpful issues to include are:
instrument name and company website;
instrument features beneficial to your research;
expected platform usage by your lab (monthly/annually);
general applicability to LSU research community; and,
funding sources for instrument & its service contract.
You are encouraged to suggest new ideas or to weigh in on the potential options listed below:
PlateMaster (Gilson): Enable high-throughput manual pipetting of 96- & 384-well microplates with either the P20 (0.5-20 µl volumes) or the P220 (2-220 µl volumes) platform. Fill 96-well plates in ~10-20 seconds or 384-well plates in <1 minute using only four pipetting steps. Accuracy & precision levels can equal 8-channel pipettes (brochure, vendor pdf).
Series Tx Balance (Accuris): Calibrate pipettes quickly and when required with the W3002A's Tx touch screen, anti-evaporation trap and built-in pipette calibration software. Stand-alone pipette calibration system is easy to use for the ISO 8655 method of pipette calibration. Individual pipette details (brand, model, serial number) can be saved in the internal data base for current and future calibrations. The W3002A-120 is a semi-micro class balance with a maximum capacity of 120g, and readability of 0.01mg up to 62g. (brochure, vendor pdf).
Cytation 5 Cell Imaging Multimode Reader (Biotek – Agilent): combines automated microscopy and conventional microplate detection in a configurable, upgradable platform; multimode detection modules include filter- and monochromator-based fluorescence detection, luminescence, and UV-Vis absorbance detection. Gen5 software provides complete control over all imaging and data capture, plus powerful image and data analysis (brochure, vendor pdf).
Sapphire FL Biomolecular Imager (Azure): Detection modes for fluorescence, phosphor-imaging, densitometry, and chemi-luminescence; user-changeable customized optical modules, scan resolution of 5–1000 µm, a Z-plane range from -1.0 to +6 mm, and five anesthesia ports for imaging living animals (brochure, vendor pdf).
AVITI (Element Biosciences): NGS sequencing (>90% Q40 accuracy) with options for spatial transcriptomics. Avidite base chemistry employs rolling circle amplification (RCA) to minimize common amplification errors resulting in no PCR error propagation, negligible index hopping, low duplication rates, & low AT/GC bias. Kit pricing locked-in for life of instrument upon purchase. (brochure-ngs, brochure-multiomics, vendor pdfs).
DNBSEQ-G400 (Complete Genomics): NGS sequencing with options for spatial transcriptomics. DNBSEQ technology is built around DNA nanoballs (DNBs) created during library preparation by rolling circle replication, eliminating clonal amplification errors, and reducing the GC biases and dropouts. DNBs are loaded onto a flow cell etched with uniformly-spaced ~200nm binding sites at submicron distances, with each site binding a single DNB. No expensive DNA quantification required; no under- or over-loading in a wide range of DNB concentrations (brochure, vendor pdf).
Note: If you have a need for the following type of instrumentation, please recognize that the Core's existing platforms are performing far beyond their expected 'end-of-life' and repairs will not be possible:
